The Riverton School District houses around 1600 students in 3 school buildings. The district employs around 115 certified teachers, 8 administrators, and 70 support staff including food service staff, transportation staff, administrative support staff, custodial staff, and paraprofessionals.
Riverton Elementary School houses grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade. It also houses 3 morning and afternoon Pre-K classrooms for 3 and 4 year old students. Riverton Middle School houses grades 5-8 and Riverton High School houses Grades 9-12. Riverton High School does send junior and senior students that choose additional vocational courses to the Capital Area Career Center for afternoon classes.
The district has many valuable partners. They work with Aramark Food services to provide quality breakfast and lunches with new federal nutritional guidelines. The district also belongs to the Sangamon Areas Special Education Cooperative (SASED). This cooperative allows the district to partner with experts in the special education field. It also allows the district to share services with similar size district to try and manage the rising cost of providing special education services
