Hawks end season with great effort. Look forward to '08

As the season wrapped up for the 2007 Riverton Hawks soccer team, the boys played their best soccer of the year. They went 3-4-2 over their last 9 games winning or tying 5 of the final 9, including a come-from-behind victory against Litchfield.
The 2007 season was filled with disappointments and a couple of surprises and even some encouraging notes for the 2008 season. With all four returning starting defenders (Thomas Kocis, Jr., Michael Carver, Jr. Josh Dubois-Deverger, So. and Nick Schrock, So.) and the return of goalie Zach Hardin, So. the Hawks have a great backline with plenty of varsity experience from which they can build.
Offensively the play of Freshman Spencer Pulliam (6 goals and 5 assists) was something that the team will build around when looking to establish a more potent attack next fall. Jace Burcham, Evan Peterson, Jake Jerome, Austin Maddox all return and have all started at least one varsity match and played in all 20 games this past year. In addition, Freshman Alec Seymour, Matt Jagodzinski and Connor Holliday all saw significant varsity time this year along with Sophomore Jared Lamkey.
While the result of the 2007 record (4-13-3) was probably as much due to loss of key players for discipline reasons as a lack of talent or effort, the time that these younger players gained will prove to be invaluable in the upcoming years.
