RHS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

SEPTEMBER 5, 2008

LUNCH: Assorted sandwiches, pizza, salad, vegetable, fruit, milk.

BREAKFAST SEPTEMBER 8th:  Biscuit w/gravy.

LUNCH SPECIAL TODAY:   Polish sausage on bun or mini corn dogs.

TRIVIA QUESTION:  The names of how many U.S. state capitals include their state's name?

ATTENTION STUDENTS:   Hurricane Gustav brought the rain, and the Hawks brought the thunder as the Boys' Soccer team whipped Athens 4-0.  The "soggy bottom Hawks" splashed through 80 minutes of hard fought soccer lead by Sophomores Spencer Pulliam (2 goals) and Connor Holliday (1 goal, 1 assist).  Sr. Evan Peterson scored his second goal in three games as goalie Matt Jagodzinski recorded the teams' first shut-out in the win.  The Hawks will dry out before they host Roanoke-Benson tomorrow at the Field of Dreams at 10am.  Seating is open and all RHS students get in for free!!  See you there!

FLORA SCAPE flower shop at 2719 W. Monroe, Springfield (698-8180) will be offering a Homecoming flower special.  Purchase one corsage and one boutonniere together and receive $5 off total order.  Please mention special at time of order. 

Have you started planning your outfits for next week yet?  MONDAY is Sports Day, TUESDAY is Hip Hop Day, WEDNESDAY is Class Color Day, THURSDAY is Hippie/Tie Dye Day and FRIDAY is Crazy Orange & Blue Day.  Class cup points will be awarded each day to the class who dresses up the most.

If you plan to bran a non-RHS date to next Saturday's Homecoming Dance, you need to pick up a form in the office ASAP!!

If you would like to participate in any of the games and competitions at Wednesday 's pep rally or Friday's pep assembly, sign up in Mrs. Selinger's office before or after school.

Make plans to come decorate the halls with SGA on Saturday from 12:30-2:30pm.  The class with the most festive and Hawkish hall will receive Class Cup Points.

The following colleges will be visiting Springfield.  They will be at the Crowne Plaza on Thursday, September 25 at 7:30pm.  This is designed for students and parents.  This is a wonderful opportunity.  This is a new event and one worth attending if you are considering any of the following schools:  Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Penn State University or Stanford University.

We still do not have on file signed handbook/media forms from the following students:  DJ Benton, Kelly Bertrang, Hayley Christian, Katelyn Driver, Ryan Hughes, Haili Killen, Austin Maddox, Nicholas Miller, Chris O'Connor, Amanda Owens,  Jared Pinney, Dustin Roach, Kyle Williams.  Please return ASAP.  Extra forms are available in the office.

WANTED:  Sitter for one 10 year old on Thursday evenings and some weekends.  Pays well.  Inquire in the office.

ATTENTION TADAA:   Our first meeting is this Sunday, Sept. 7th at 6:00pm in Mrs. Campbell's room.

ATTENTION SGA:  If you want to sign up for "Spirit Week" assembly activities, see Mrs. Selinger after school today.

FOUND IN THE LIBRARY:  Calculator without a cover & a jump drive on a key ring with car keys.  Owners must identify.
