September 02, 2008

Riverton Middle School received a letter from State Superintendent Dr. Christopher Koch for improving from "implementing" to "fully implementing" status within the Illinois PBIS Network.  RMS is one of 250 district in the state to achieve this status.

PBIS (Positive Behaviors Incentives and Supports) is an organization designed to lead schools to meeting federal mandates created by No Child Left Behind.  RMS is currently working on maintaining Universal Programs that benefit all students while developing Secondary and Tertiary Programs designed to help students who struggle with behavior or academics.

Riverton Middle School is in its 8th year as a PBIS School and has been a model school the during the past four years for area schools that are starting up in PBIS.  Riverton Elementary (5 years) and Riverton High School (1 year) are also PBIS Schools.
