Check in/Check-out (CICO)
by Annie Smith
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. These are three expectations we ask students to display during school and school activities. Most of our students display these behaviors with pride during school, but sometimes students have difficulty with these expectations. Check-in/check out is a simple secondary intervention designed to reach students whose behavior may be getting in the way of them being successful at school. By starting this system, we can provide additional support for students who may be at risk and to assist your student to follow these expectations. This intervention will provide more support in the form of increased adult attention, frequent feedback regarding their behavior and additional positive support. By using this program, students will be asked to monitor these expectations during every class period. I have attached the form RMS uses to monitor this behavior. Communication between school and home is vital to intervention success. Please call or e-mail if you should have any questions regarding the program at 629-6002 or annsmith@rivertonschools.org.
