Mr. Fletcher's Kindergarten News

October 5-9 - Fall Academy Week

October 19 - First day of 2nd quarter

October 22 - PEP meeting 6:30 in library

A Note from Mr. Fletcher

The first quarter of kindergarten has come and gone.  The second quarter will be here before we know it.  I have enjoyed teaching all of my students and hope that the kids have enjoyed class as well.  We will be focusing a great deal on reading in the coming months.  When we return, we will be working on predicting of a fiction text.  We have been predicting nonfiction texts for the last few weeks.  We learned about boats and ships, water and its forms, and animals.  This focus on predicting of both fiction and nonfiction texts  will lay the foundation for their future learning.  You can help build this foundation and make it stronger by reading to your child at least 3 times a week for 10-15 minutes.  The more that a child is exposed to print, the easier it is for them to learn.

I hope that everyone has a nice break!  See you next quarter!

Mr. Fletcher

REMINDERS

Be sure to check your child's backpack and BEE binder daily.  Important news, homework, and completed work are sent home on a daily basis.

Unless it is a scheduled show and tell day, toys and other things from home should not be brought to school.

Our scheduled library day is Thursday.  Please help your child remember to return their books by then each week.

We are beginning to run low on snacks again.  What you have been sending has been perfect.  Thanks to all.
