Keep an eye out for lunch reminders of when your student’s account is low.
Be sure to send your child with their backpack every day.
HOMEWORK: Kindergarten homework will be sent home on the last day of each month for the following month. Please help your child complete his/her homework and return it by the end of the month. This is very important! |
|
Thank you very much for continuing to send in snacks. We really appreciate all of the yummy and nutritious snacks that are provided by our parents! Mr. Fletcher’s class is running low on snacks. If possible, please send healthy, nutritious snacks to coincide with red ribbon week next week. Examples are: grapes, carrot sticks, granola bars, yogurt packs etc. |
Things to work on at home:
|
|
Reading:
We started a new theme called “We’re a Family.” We introduced the letter Tt. Next week we will work with the letter Bb. Students will learn to identify the letter, produce the letter sound, write the letter using correct formation within the lines, and identify objects that begin with that letter/sound. Beginning in this theme we will introduce our word wall words. Each week students will be introduced to a new word wall word. It is a word that will be displayed on a board in the room. Students will be expected to read, write, and spell these words. Students will need to have nightly practice on these words to master them. This week, our word is: like.
Words to Practice:
|
Writing:
We have been working very hard on handwriting at school. We are working upper and lower case letters correctly within the lines on the paper.
Students will begin to write in their journals. Journal writing is a time where students draw a picture of something and then write about their drawing.
We are also beginning to write sentences using our word wall words. We will be making basic sentences like: “I like _______.” and “I see my ______.” |

Science/Soc.Studies:
Our new unit is called Places Around Town. We will learn about community helpers, community locations, and the goods that are sold there. One way to practice this skill is to point out businesses and discuss who works there and what you can buy there. |
Math:
In Math, we will be continuing to practice teen numbers up to 20. We will be practicing an ABB pattern, counting to 50, and writing numbers to 10.
Important skills to practice at home are: counting to 50, counting backwards 13-0, recognizing numbers 0-20, identifying and continuing ABB patterns, and writingnumbers 0-10, sorting coins, and recognizing the penny and nickel and their value. |

Kindergarten Grading Graded papers will be marked with either a green/purple dot. All ungraded papers are done together in class.
-(Green) Meeting standard of performance -(Not yet) meeting the standard of performance
If your child receives a purple dot on a paper that would be a good skill to practice at home. Purple dots can be viewed as skills that are in need of practice. |
PBIS Be sure to check your child’s behavior radar each night to find out what stoplight color your child ended the school day on. Students who meet the behavior expectation for the month will get to participate in monthly power-kid parties hosted by Mrs. Grieve. Students are only allowed to have green lights/parking lot, 1 yellow light, and no red lights. If a yellow or red note comes home please sign the form and return it to school the next day. |
