Parent Letter
by Jenny Mendenhall
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to 7th grade! I will be your child’s Reading/Writing teacher for the 2011-12 school year. Some of you may remember me from 4th grade at RES, where I taught for five years. I am excited to get some of my former students back, and to meet the new students whom I’ve not yet had the privilege of working with at school. This will be my 7th year of teaching. I am really looking forward to working with your student!
I believe that each child is capable of being successful. I fully intend to help students improve their reading and writing skills so they become successful young adults in school this year, and in the future too. Reading and writing are essential life skills, and I will do my best to help each and every student learn how to become creative, critical, independent thinkers, which will also allow them to succeed in life. It is my hope that they will also become lifelong learners who will strive for nothing less than success in everything they encounter.
I believe that Riverton is one of the best school districts in the area. I truly believe in our district’s philosophy of teaching and learning, and hope that you do as well. Staying involved in your child’s education is one of the most vital components of success, and your support is important. Not only do I value your support, but your child will as well. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time if you have questions and/or concerns! You can contact me by calling RMS at 629-6002 (ext. 205), or by e-mailing me at jmendenhall@rivertonschools.org. (While I will return all phone calls as soon as possible, e-mail is sometimes quicker.) Our 7th grade team time is from 9:30 to 10:10 a.m. daily, which is one of the best times to call. I also encourage you to e-mail me your contact information as soon as possible, so I have an up-to-date and quick way of contacting you if necessary.
Please take a moment to review your child’s course packet(s), and take note of the school supplies he/she will need. Also, please be sure to check our school’s website regularly (at least once per week) so you can stay up-to-date on your child’s grades and other information you may need to know.
Thank you so much for your support! Again, I am excited and looking forward to having a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jenny Mendenhall
