Riverton High School has received a very nice addition to to the science department courtesy of two former students. Gary Flanagan (class of 1979) and Jamie Fuess (class of 1999) teamed up to bring a full-sized Broad-winged Hawk to RHS. Mr. Flanagan found the Hawk last spring shortly after it was struck by a vehicle. After contacting the Department of Natural Resources, he volunteered to complete the paperwork needed to have the specimen mounted in order to display the hawk at RHS. After contacting the high school, Mr. Flanagan was referred to local taxidermist and owner of Tall Tine Taxidermy, Jamie Fuess. Jamie spent many hours over the summer prepping and eventually mounting the hawk for display. Both Flanagan and Fuess were able to come in and speak to Ms. Kennedy's zoology class about their their experiences in bringing the hawk to RHS. The hawk is currently on display in the auditorium lobby. The students and faculty of RHS thank both alumni for their generous efforts!
