Geography

by Chris Bertolino

Welcome to Geography!

The main goal of this class is to learn and be inspired about the huge and interesting world around us! In this class we start off learning basic terms of geography such as population density so that we can apply them later when learning about perhaps the population density of Paris, France. We will then start learning about the places of the world we know best; the United States! We will learn about all 50 states and capitals then move onto the rest of North America. After that, we will learn about Latin America, Europe, Africa and parts of Asia.

Current Events

I have a current events segment of class that we will do no more than twice a week in order to have a chance for students to learn about what is going on in the world around us. The students are expected to have a current event of their choosing to share with the class about once every 3 weeks. They can get the articles from the newspaper, Internet or somewhere else, as long as they ok it with me first. The articles I want should facilitate learning. (So nothing about the latest on Paris Hilton please!) If I call on the student to go, they are expected to share with the class any information that they know on the topic in about 30-60 seconds.
