Exploring Where & Why by Nystrom is the social studies curriculum for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade.  Outlined below are key elements of the program, as well grade level social studies curriculum maps:

  • Hands-On and Minds-On Activities

In early elementary, students develop skills through themes such as family, neighborhoods, and communities.

Social Studies Alive! Regions of Our Country by Teacher's Curriculum Institute is the social studies curriculum for 4th Grade.  Outline below are key elements of the program and the fourth grade curriculum map:

  • Theory-Based Active Instruction

Instruction is conducted in a variety of methods to integrate all learning styles.  Lessons include cooperative group work to increase student interaction which can lead to more learning and greater content retention.  Students learn progressively more difficult concepts as the content is introduced.

  • Standards-Based Content

Lessons are taught to build on mastery of state and national standards.
