ES: School Improvement: PBIS

PBIS

by Kelly Fraase

August 11, 2008

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide systematic and effective approach for improving student behavior broadly across school environments.  PBIS includes data-based strategies for supporting all students along a continuum of need and intensity based on a three-tiered model of prevention.  The major emphasis of PBIS is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.

It is the philosophy of the Riverton School District #14 to have rules and regulations that allow each student the opportunity to work and study in an environment conducive to learning.  Students are expected to be courteous, diligent, honest, respectful, and to abide by the district rules and regulations.  All of us, at any age are in need of parameters and direction in order to accomplish our daily tasks.

We firmly believe that in order to create an atmosphere where each individual student can maximize their potential; teachers, students, parents, and staff must work together.
