Notes, Reminders, and Needs:
Please check your student’s BEE binder nightly.
Keep an eye out for lunch reminders of when your student’s account is low.
Be sure to send your child with their backpack every day.
*If anyone would be willing to send in a box or Alphabet cereal or a box of Fruit Loops cereal we would appreciate it. We will be using them for reading and math activities. |

Send Snack Please
Thank you very much for continuing to bring in snacks. We really appreciate all of the yummy and nutritious snacks that are provided by our parents. We are in need for snacks. It would also be helpful if we could have napkins for snack.

Things to work on at home:
|
|
Reading:
This week we will begin a unit called “Look At Us.” In this unit we will read a variety of different books about children. We will be talking about how to identify the details of a story. We will also focus on comparing and contrasting the different stories that we read. We will be introducing the letters N, O, P, Q, & R. We will be practicing identifying and forming the lowercase and uppercase letters. We are practicing identifying every letter of the alphabet everyday as a class. Recognizing letters and letter sounds are the first step to beginning reading!
Words to Practice:
|
Writing:
This week we will be continuing to learn our friends’ names and draw a picture to match. We are learning about our friends in class and making a book for each student.
We have been working very hard on handwriting at school. We are working upper and lower case letters correctly within the lines on the paper.
We will be introducing the period. This may be a great time to discuss the period and its uses at home when reading. We say that a period is the end of a sentence. A period means to stop.

Science/Soc.Studies:
We are learning about our senses. The children will learn each of the five senses and what information each sense provides. During this unit the children will be describing and sorting objects according to physical properties, scent, sound, size, shape, weight, and texture. |
Math:
We have been learning about the shapes and can identify a variety of items by their shape. We will continue to practice writing numbers 0-10, creating patterns with shapes, recognizing the penny, practicing counting and naming numbers from 1-15, and counting backwards from 10-0.
Some skills to practice at home are: counting to 15, counting backwards 10-0, recognizing numbers 0-15, identifying and continuing AB patterns, writing numbers 0-10, and identifying the following shapes: circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, and heart. |
